PATHS THAT CROSS EACH OTHER (in a Place On the Road That No One Passes Through): On the Sharjah Art Foundation’s Video Program “Genealogies in the Middle East and Latin America”

“Another work that participates in this genealogy is 11 de Septiembre [September 11] (2002) by Claudia Aravena (Chile). Through an associative game of archives, she places the terrorist attack in New York and the coup d’état in her country in the same temporal space. The video is practically a love poem, the tearing of injustice a caress: the slow-motion and the zapping between one channel and another where the TV places together the scenes as if they were simultaneous, in the same corner of the planet. She recites: “We are in everything we see”.”
